Backup Frequency
How often BeeMail checks for new emails and how it keeps your backup up to date.
Default sync interval
BeeMail checks for new emails every 15 minutes by default. The first sync runs right when the app starts, then repeats on your chosen schedule.
Changing how often BeeMail syncs
- Open Settings (gear icon).
- Under General, find Sync Interval (minutes).
- Enter a value between 1 and 1440 (24 hours).
- Click Save Settings.
For most users, syncing every 5–15 minutes is a good balance between staying up to date and conserving resources.
Sync on demand
Don’t want to wait? Use the Sync Now button to immediately check all your accounts for new emails.
Smart syncing
After the first full backup, BeeMail only downloads what’s changed — new messages, deleted messages, and updated labels. This makes regular syncs fast and lightweight, even for large mailboxes.
What happens during each sync
- New emails are downloaded and saved to your backup folder.
- Deleted emails are marked as deleted, but the backed-up files stay on your computer for safekeeping.
- Label and folder changes are updated so your backup matches Gmail.
Tip: If a sync fails (for example, your internet is down), BeeMail will simply try again at the next scheduled time. No action needed on your part.
